Introduction
The places in which my ancestors were born, where they lived and died are key to my existence. I am as much a part of those places as I am a part of my forebears. I am defined as much by the roads, lanes and paths my ancestors travelled as the genetic code passed down the generations. With modern science I can read this code and see within its letters the blueprint for who I am. But what about how I came to be in the first place?
Everything that every one of my ancestors did had to be done exactly as it was in order for me to be born; anything different, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, and I would not be here.
My aim as a tourist and the purpose of this project is to visit those places in which my ancestors were born, where they lived and died; to find myself and my ancestors on the roads, paths and lanes of both the past and present; to find out who I really am and how I came to be here.
